The grotto had Stephen Rowland from UNLV speak last night about the Gypsum Cave (near Lake Mead) expeditions of the 1930's . It was a great time. Seems This guy Harrington found human artifacts under sloth dung that had an unbroken seal thereby assuming that the humans were around with the sloths.... ooops along comes carbon dating and that can't be true... seems no one thought about what would happen if the cave (which is not really a drainage cave but a hollow gypsum pocket) flooded... all that poo became liquid and floated to the top... then slowly evaporated into a sealed sort of layer above the newer human artifacts....
Seems all the bones they found in the cave got transferred to CA .. think I have a new destination ... everyone needs a destination...the LA County Museum and the Tar Pits.... but there are some ahead of that one.. that one will have to wait for fall...
