Choosing

As I chased the cats and watered my feeble attempt at flowers I realized that the whole problem in my house, my life, is that people think they can make choices that are not theirs to make.

The grackles squawk at my cat when she comes out because she eats their babies, if she can, and they know her well. They even distinguish her from the other cats (who by the way also partake in the feast but are not as tenacious) If given the choice these grackles would not share my garden with my cat.

It's not that I blame them - I understand - I even try to keep the cats from attacking the birds and if I see a baby bird that is taking wings and hasn't quite got it down I will keep the cats in and the baby out of harms way but I am not getting rid of my cats because the grackles want me to. It simply is not their choice.

It is the same way with my sources of income. My husband helps by paying for big items, expenses not in my budget and goodies that fill the refer and pantry... he even buys cat food and flowers (the kind you plant) and I extract a sum from the boy's trump card as well. This being the case I pay the piper when I am mad at either of them because I have to think about the choice.... and it is MY choice.
